Devin & Brittany's Wedding Reception - Utah!

This cute venue, the Draper Daybarn, was expertly decorated and ready to go in mere hours though preparations had begun many months before.  We worked in the 90+ degree heat and got everything set up and ready for guests, then made a quick trip to Dale and Diana's conveniently nearby home and took advantage of their air conditioning to get ourselves back into wedding reception form. Before the sun went down Jonas took lots more great wedding pictures of the families.

This cake was so beautiful!

These guys randomly started chatting since they were both recently returned missionaries and come to find out, they had a mutual friend, Thomas Hovenden.  He's from our home ward in Burlington and served as a companion to Tyrel in Japan.  Tyrel is a friend of the Mounteer's from their ward in Las Vegas.  Small world!

I got a kick out of Devin's "getaway" garb.  I remember that Brittany shopped for hours for the perfect dress and then Devin...well...

This car got the treatment!  

And away they drove, into the sunset!

Wedding Day!

Thursday, June 25, 2015 dawned sunny and warm, and we quickly prepared to go to the Salt Lake Temple for a morning sealing. Keith and Devin left first. The rest of us were to follow shortly after but I lost the truck key!  I was a bit anxious and easily flustered, I suppose it was the pre-wedding jitters of a first time groom's mom.  We had Dennis drive, which was great, and we made it to the temple on time.  We went downstairs, removed our shoes and waited to be told when to go up to the sealing room.  We had asked Dale and Diana Veenendahl to come since we had no other family attending and I was so pleased that they came.  Our kids barely know them, but Dale was Keith's best friend growing up in Bellingham. We walked a very long way to the sealing room where Devin and Brittany would meet us. They both looked beautiful.  We had a lovely ceremony, I cried, and felt so pleased that they were now a family of their own. 

Afterwards we waited upstairs for a long time, then waited for them to exit by a door outside.  It was already in the 80's so we left the air conditioning and waited for a really long time.

We kept entertained by watching the other brides and grooms and taking pictures.

 At last, our bride and groom were here, ready to be congratulated!

Their faces speak volumes about the love they have already developed.

So many friends and family members had come to be with them.

Brittany looked gorgeous, and her dress was so very beautiful!

I was so happy for Devin!

Staying hydrated was important. It was really hot and sticky.

We walked and rode the trax to the downtown Olive Garden for a fabulous wedding day feast.  There were three very long tables full of family and friends joining us.

 We feasted and visited and rested up for the celebration yet to come!
