To celebrate our 28th anniversary we took a little trip east of the mountains. We stayed overnight at this lovely hotel, the Bavarian Lodge. It's right across from the main town square.
It was so beautiful inside and out, lots of neat touches, like these snazzy bedspreads, pillows and a little welcome bear, which is yours to take home for just $13.95.
I love the bathroom light fixtures and the brass accessories on the marble counter. Lots of wood and metal decorative details.
The lobby was warm and inviting, the service was good, and of course, the gorgeous flowers abound in Leavenworth. We even took a dip in the pool. Oh, breakfast was wonderful too.

The town is just cute, and I got a kick out of this red shuttle bus zipping around.
Our first night there we went to a play called "Crazy for You" at an outdoor theater. This is the pre-show. On the phone, the ticket salesman said it was very warm over there at the start of the show, like in the 90's, but to take an extra layer for later when the sun goes down. So I took a jacket and a blanket. I only had flip flops for my feet, however, and Keith just KNEW that wouldn't be enough for me. So he kindly offered up his cowboy boots and some socks.
Need I say, they are about twice as big as my feet? It was great to be warm, but it was a little tricky walking in them, and keeping them on my feet, especially going down stairs. The show was cute, so it was a fun evening.
The next day it was so hot, that after shopping around a bit, we sauntered on down to the Wenatchee River and cooled our tootsies for a bit. Lots of people were floating the river. That looked like a lot of fun! Next time, we'll do that for sure!
It was nice to have so much unscheduled time to just talk and enjoy the warm sunshine.
In the afternoon we decided to cool off with this amazingly wonderful treat, a chocolate gelato filled crepe with rasberry sauce, hazelnuts and whipped cream too, at Pavz Cafe Bisto. Worth every calorie!
Dinner time and we couldn't resist the specialty there, German brats at Munchen Haus! There are lots of specialty mustards and fresh squeezed lemonade. Good eating!
Then Keith, in all his wisdom, thought we ought to look for a pair of shoes that would fit me a little better than the cowboy boots for that nights play, "The Sound of Music". So we walked a bit and found this lovely hiker at a sporting goods store. They'll be great for hiking.
It's a good thing we splurged on the hiking shoes, because the "walk" from the parking lot to this ampitheater was about 1/2 mile uphill.
The show was really wonderful. Great singing, acting, costumes and sets. It was just done very well. I highly recommend it. It was fun to have the "hills come alive" during the show with music.
Got to work on Keith's expressions a bit, but we really did have a fun and memorable weekend.
A great way to celebrate 28 long years of marriage.
