Devin & Brittany's Washington Reception

This gorgeous cake is was provided courtesy of Katie!  And it tasted every bit as good as it looks, maybe even better.  With the two of us frosting and baking, the cake and cupcakes are all from our kitchen.  Thank goodness Diane was up for keeping the girls entertained.

My good friends from our stake Relief Society presidency, Jema McOmber and Verna Rhine along with Vicki Russell, all teamed up to run the kitchen.  They were such fantastic help!

These lovely flowers were all arranged by MaryAnne Komar.  The two of us spent the day before shopping at Seattle's Pike Place Market to find enough flowers to fill the room with color.  It was beautiful, and MaryAnn is one creative lady.  

Brittany's parents brought cheesecake toppings all the way from Utah!

After Diane and Dennis had to cut their lovely wedding cake with butcher knife, I vowed never to let that happen again.  This set up was much more festive.

Vicki Russell did such a lovely job helping with the table arrangements.  And she brought this gorgeous lace among other things to complete the look.

We are so happy for this young couple.  They are a great match!

Fourth of July Railroad Grade Hike

AF Canyon Half Marathon

Knowing that she was going to be in charge of entertainment while we all crashed at her house for the wedding of Devin and Brittany, Diane pulled out all the stops and got us all to sign up for a race!  Surely that would keep us out of trouble for a good portion of the weekend.  There's the day before preparations, the early bedtime, the early rising, the race of course, the great food served afterwards which means less cooking for us, the after race river float to cool off,  the picnic at the park to refuel, and then we would all be so wiped out, we would just want to sit around nursing our sore achy muscles the rest of the evening.  Her plan worked perfectly, and we had a fun and memorable day.  We even helped to raise some funds for cancer patients.

This was Katie and Eric's first half marathons. They were pumped!

And sporting some pretty colorful gear as you may have noticed.

Keith and Dennis are conspicuously absent from the race photos. That's because they were determined to take on the even bigger challenge of cheering their racers on from as many vantage points as possible.  Now that takes dedication.  We thank them for their cheers!

We had the opportunity to dedicate our race to someone who has fought cancer.  There were wonderful motivational signs along the race to remind us of the cause.
