Wedding Day!

Thursday, June 25, 2015 dawned sunny and warm, and we quickly prepared to go to the Salt Lake Temple for a morning sealing. Keith and Devin left first. The rest of us were to follow shortly after but I lost the truck key!  I was a bit anxious and easily flustered, I suppose it was the pre-wedding jitters of a first time groom's mom.  We had Dennis drive, which was great, and we made it to the temple on time.  We went downstairs, removed our shoes and waited to be told when to go up to the sealing room.  We had asked Dale and Diana Veenendahl to come since we had no other family attending and I was so pleased that they came.  Our kids barely know them, but Dale was Keith's best friend growing up in Bellingham. We walked a very long way to the sealing room where Devin and Brittany would meet us. They both looked beautiful.  We had a lovely ceremony, I cried, and felt so pleased that they were now a family of their own. 

Afterwards we waited upstairs for a long time, then waited for them to exit by a door outside.  It was already in the 80's so we left the air conditioning and waited for a really long time.

We kept entertained by watching the other brides and grooms and taking pictures.

 At last, our bride and groom were here, ready to be congratulated!

Their faces speak volumes about the love they have already developed.

So many friends and family members had come to be with them.

Brittany looked gorgeous, and her dress was so very beautiful!

I was so happy for Devin!

Staying hydrated was important. It was really hot and sticky.

We walked and rode the trax to the downtown Olive Garden for a fabulous wedding day feast.  There were three very long tables full of family and friends joining us.

 We feasted and visited and rested up for the celebration yet to come!

Pre Wedding For Devin & Brittany

One important day in anyone's life is going to the temple to receive their endowment.  We wanted to be with Brittany on that important day, so we planned to be in Utah in time to go with her family to the Draper temple on Tuesday June 23, 2015.  We were only missing Katie and Josh. 

 The Draper temple is incredibly beautiful, and the spirit was sweet as we enjoyed the session. Brittany and Devin seemed especially joyful. 

The evening was perfect!

It had rained recently and the hillsides were sporting a lovely shade of green just for us, I'm sure. 

Diane and Eric took a run, Keith and I just took a nice, easy hike to get the next day started.

Not too far from Diane's home in Bountiful, this trail takes you to a spectacular view of Salt Lake valley.

After lots of wedding reception prep at the Mounteer's home, we picked up Katie at the airport! Then we took Devin out for his bachelor party, starting with a family dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Doesn't he look ready to become an old married man?  I think he is radiating happiness with that cute grin.  Just one more day and he will be wedded to the girl of his dreams. 

We figured this would be a good way for Devin to finish getting ready for a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, a nice, high calorie dessert!

 Then the guys took off to do some crazy go cart racing, while the ladies opted to get beautiful for the wedding and it's festivities.  We pretty much closed down the mall that night, and had to walk a jillion miles from the door we could exit to where our car was parked, and oh, ya, Katie and I were sporting these awesome foam flip flops from the salon so we wouldn't ruin our lovely pedicures.  What we women will do for beauty's sake!
