When Devin's in the Kitchen...

...you can be sure that good eating is ahead. Devin said his ward RS sisters have treats almost every Sunday. They offered him a cinnamon roll this week, and he thought to himself, I can make GREAT cinnamon rolls. So he came home and PROVED it. Yum! I love that he goes all out, and doesn't take short cuts. Like me. I'm all about the bread machine. But he does the whole knead the dough thing. Thanks Devin! Your cinnamon rolls are wonderful!

Memories of a perfect day!

Devin's 21st Birthday!

Look at the intensity on that guy's face. He's doing some

serious air intake there. I'm resolved to do better on the

birthday cakes this year. Last year Devin's cake

had a moat around it. Eric's cake was lopsided, and

Keith's cake was a chunck of cheese with cottage cheese
frosting or some crazy high protein low carb thing!

I think the cakes have turned out a little better in 2009.

We went bowling to celebrate the big day. Eric's form

is looking real nice.

Devin is looking pretty good out there as well.

We played two games, some of us getting better, like me,

and some realized they had a serious case of beginner's luck,

like Eric! Devin tried to do a trick shot by quickly lifting

up the gutter rails to save his ball from dropping in the gutter,

but ended up cutting open his left hand! There was a piece

of sharp metal sticking out, the rubber covering was gone.

Ouch! But he rallied back and finished up pretty well.

Devin definitely needs to get a pair of these. They'd be

great on the dance floor! Happy Birthday Devin!

Eric's Halloween Festivities

So Eric has now graduated up from Trick or Treating

to Partying on Halloween. I think the transition was

fairly smooth. The Atikinson's invited all the kids in the stake over for

dinner and games on Halloween. Here's the motley crew

posing on the giant rock in the backyard. Eric is doing a

fine disco pose!

What Halloween party would be complete without

the doughnut on a string game? They also played

some basketball, some pool, pogo sticking, and a

couple of other fun games, Norwegion Nose Dive

and Four on the Couch, (the boys won).

So now all the Schenk kids have donned the disco
outfit. This was originally worn in the Western
Washington Dance Festival in 1978 by Keith.
I think that qualifies it as a classic!

My visit to Utah

I loved the chance to visit Diane & Dennis and Katie & Josh.

Phone calls just can't take the place of actually being with

your family.

We had a big Sunday dinner with all the fixins' at Katie's
place. We celebrated Diane's birthday a couple of days
early that night.

Diane and I spent Saturday putting together the decorating

plan for her kitchen. It turned out so cute!

While there, I also went to an Indian restaurant for the first time

and had chicken tika masala. Very good.

I also got to see the Museum of Art exhibit Types and Shadows.

Black & White Party

Katie & Josh threw a Black & White party the Friday
I was visiting in Utah. It was a fun twist on the
traditional Halloween type party.

Katie found some fun refreshment ideas to serve.

The popcorn is drizzled with white chocolate, the
white and "black" chips were dipped in

black bean salsa, the chocolate truffles were

homemade, the drink was a pina colada type...

But the big hit was the army of penguins! So cute!

I love the way the pumpkins turned out.

It was fun meeting some of Katie's friends.
