Fall Fishing & Hunting

Keith heard about this great river over in Eastern Washington

for Steelhead fishing. Well, the fishing turned out to be not

too impressive, but boating around was good fun.

You can't go to Eastern Washington in October and not

do some hunting while you're at it. This is the boys

and David Lindsey and his son Cooper. It's David's

boat in the picture above. From the reports I got,

Cooper is a real trooper.

As you can see, the hunt was very successful


I've never seen such fat pheasants! Good job, guys!

Happy 50th Birthday Keith!

We celebrated this birthday with a nice dinner

and the ever popular carrot cake.

Fify candles really

light up theroom!

If you weren't there to behold the amazing feat,

let me just tell you, I've never seen 50 candles

blown out at such lightening speed.

Truly a proud moment for all Schenks everywhere.

Aaaargh!

The youth in our stake are getting more creative all the time.

When you want to have a costume dance, but you need to find a

way to exclude all the gory, and otherwise inappropriate

costumes that usually appeal to teenagers,what's your

angle? How about "dress up as a Disney Character".

Can you guess who Eric is? Well, apparently he is one of

Jack Sparrow's crew members from Pirates of the

Carribean. So, that qualifies as a Disney character!

Thanks to Devin for the fancy vest and shirt, stuff

he picked up in a Rexburg D.I. for one of his

costume parties at BYU-I last year.

A Visit with Richard, Diana & Baby Michael

We were lucky enough to have Richard

and Diana overnight on Sunday. It was

nice to visit and not feel too rushed.

We enjoyed dinner with Grandma Hart,

then played some games til way late.

Why is it that I only think to take pictures when
we are eating? Well, maybe that's the only time

we're all together. It was so fun to have Richard

and Diana and Michael come up to visit for a day.

Breakfast, as you can see from the sun glaring

through the front window, making stripes on

Michael, was waffles!

After a ferry ride to Friday Harbor, Richard and Diana

joined us for dinner of steak fajitas and famous Richeson

corn on the cob. It was fun watching Michael eat

like a big boy! He had a cob in each hand.

Girl's Week

When Mom and her sister Marilyn get together,

they know how to have fun! So I decided

to muscle my way into some of the action.

First of all, I mind tricked mom

into inviting my family over for Sunday dinner.

Definitely a good plan on my part. Roast,

potatoes, and the works topped off with a

scruptious mint chocolate chip ice cream pie.

We followed up the good meal with a rousing

game of Zilch. Let's see, who won? I believe

that would be Devin!

Tuesday the three of us gals took a little road trip

to Bellingham for lunch and shopping.

We made stops at JoAnne Fabric, The Shrimp

Shack and Trader Joes. And because the day

was so amazingly beautiful, we took in the views

from Little Mountain. Gorgeous!

Not a cloud in the sky!

This look out isn't solid metal. You can see below

your feet! It's like hang gliding! Mount Baker in all her majesty.

Sure was a fun time!

My New Heroine Is:

Spoiler ahead. I'm pretty sure

anyone reading this has already

read the book, but just in case,

this does give away some of the

storyline.Unlikely, but true, it's Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potter

series. I just finished reading The Deathly Hallows, and each time

Professor McGonagall enters the story, she GETS it! She triumphs

Harry and backs him up completely, no questions asked, no matter

what. And towards the end, when Harry appears in Hagrid's arms,

who is the first to react? Yes, it is indeed, our lady McGonagall.

In a story with twists and turns I didn't expect, she was the constant.

She responded the "right" way, the way maybe a mother would.

I enjoyed the unexpected ways Harry and gang

were able to get out of hopeless situations, like

flying out of Gringotts on the dragon that was

supposed to kill them. I guess all those years

in "Care of Magical Creatures" classes paid off.

Dumbledore...wow, he became a real person

in this book. One with faults and a past and

real feelings. But I enjoyed the way his story

unfolded throughout the book, piece by tiny piece,

and the way Harry felt so conflicted about Dumbledore's

real intentions. That kept things interesting.

Fiend fire! And Harry going into it to save

his arch enemies! Loved it! Because after all,

we all truly felt sorry for Draco after reading

The Half Blood Prince, right?

And last of all, Harry comes off conqueror!

We knew he would, but it's never quite as

simple as it seems at first. After all, we had to

get through 744 pages before the deed was done!

All in all, a good read, a well thought out storyline,

and a fun ending. Thanks for talking me into reading

it, kids!
