This was the much talked about 90 degree day everyone was looking forward to. We've had more rain than usual, so a sneak peek at Summer was going to be a treat. Surprisingly, the temperature out on the water was about 20 degrees cooler. Combined with the very cool breeze and the cloud cover, it was actually quite chilly! But being the good sports that we are, it was still a fun day. We enjoyed the beauty around us, raced a few seagulls, learned from some well meaning fellow boaters about the dangers of cold water with strong undercurrants, and even spotted a cute little porpoise nearby us in the water.

Eric's 14th Birthday!

Yes, Eric got a whole field of tulips for his birthday. No, of course he didn't. But he did get that great looking jacket he's wearing in this picture. What a handsome boy.

At age 14, Eric still loves reading in the red chair. It's pretty much everyone's favorite place to chill. This book is Lord of the Rings Return of the King.
Finally, an actual birthday picture! Sort of. It's belated, but it's still a celebration! Eric had baseball practice on the 25th, but on the 24th Grandma Hart took Eric to dinner at Johnny Carinos. (Keith and I were in Utah.)
And here's yet another celebration. The cousins joined in the fun at Grandma Schenk's.
Everyone gathers around the cake and ice cream to help serve it. The day also included a round of pool and a pretty fierce battle of squishy balls.

Every time I see these gorgeous fields I am amazed at their beauty. By the way, I love having a digital camera so I can take absolutely as many pictures as my little heart desires!

Utah April 2008

The Huntsman Cancer Hospital is a beautiful place, especially with pretty flowers on the shelf. I think it's mostly for friends and family to appreciate. Apparently Josh was too heavily medicated to remember much about his 4 day hospital stay.

Diane Corbin made this amazing quilt for Josh & Katie's wedding. During the quilting process, Diane learned that Josh was diagnosed with cancer, and it became a story quilt. Notice the birds in the corners and the lilies in the center. "For your Father, who is in heaven, knoweth that you have need of all these things."

Diane and Brittney wanted to throw a graduation party for Katie, so they decorated her apartment and bought angel food cake and strawberries and whipped cream. There was a graduation balloon for Katie, a get well balloon for Josh and even a birthday balloon for Eric back at home. Happy 14th birthday Eric!
Sunday morning, Devin and 2 of his buddies joined us at Katie's for buttermilk pancakes and omelets. They spent Saturday being cowboys in DuCheyne Utah, wrangling cattle. Notice the nice sunburns they're sporting.

Katie's BYU Graduation!

Here we are waiting patiently in our seats for the big event to begin. It takes awhile for 3,000 plus graduates to parade in. The later ones actually got snowed on! Luckily Katie was in her seat before the storm hit. It was quite a processional! Elder Bednar was the main speaker. By the time we met back outside and found Katie, the sun was shining!

Dinner at Tapanyaki was a fun event. We watched a master japanese chef prepare our dinner right at our table. Wow! Keith and Katie caught the shrimp he threw right in their mouths! It was all very delicious.

The next day was college convocations. This is Katie posing with her flowers and gifts just outside the Marriott center.  We're proud of you Katie!
