Lake Diablo Hike and Winthrop with Diane
Diane came up to work for a few weeks inspecting with Keith. He took 3 days off to fish, so we got a few days to play! We decided to head back over to Winthrop and hike a little more along the way. This is Lake Diablo from the north side.
This is Sourdough Creek, so beautiful, it was the first thing we saw along the trail.
This is a nice foresty trail, you climb up through the woods and then you hit a spot where you can see out across the lake to those beautiful mountains.
Back to Sourdough Creek for lunch.
The sound of the rushing water was so wonderful.
At Winthrop we stayed at a neat bed and breakfast called the Chewich Inn. Don't ask me how to pronounce it. We wanted heat and we got it. It was in the 90's and not much of a breeze. We drove over to Lake Pearygin and enjoyed the sunshine by the beach of the state park.
Dinner was the same place we ate last week, Carlos 1800 Grill and Cantina, even the same salad, it was so good!
The next morning it was back to the lake, this time to Silverline Resort, to rent a double kayak and be out on the water. Originally we hoped to do some whitewater rafting but Methow river is too low and rafting finished up the beginning of this week.
Diane lead us all the way around the lake. It was warm outside and just so nice to be on the water.
It's great to have some down time too, so we relaxed in the sun for a few hot hours at the campground.
This is our view of Liberty Bell on the drive home when we stopped at Washington Pass.
The road below is the famous hairpin turn on the highway.
This is Rainy Lake. You get here on a one mile paved hike through the woods, and it is gorgeous.
This incredible waterfall comes crashing down the mountainside into Rainy Lake.
A very fun and relaxing weekend with Diane!
On the way home we stopped at Cascade Farms where we picked lots of raspberries and brought home huge and delicious blueberries.
Now to cook something amazing!
